Privacy Policy

Cambio is a currency converter for iOS that supports both fiat currencies and cryptocurrencies. Your privacy is fundamental to how we built this app. Cambio was designed from the ground up to work without collecting personal information. This policy explains exactly what data is and is not involved when you use the app.

1. Information We Collect

Cambio collects virtually no information. The app does not require an account, login, or any form of registration. There is no sign-up process and no personal data is ever requested.

The only network activity the app performs is fetching live exchange rates from third-party APIs. These requests contain only currency codes (e.g., "USD", "BTC") and do not include any personally identifiable information.

2. Information We Don't Collect

To be explicit, Cambio does not collect any of the following:

  • Names, email addresses, or contact information
  • Location data or GPS coordinates
  • Device identifiers or advertising IDs
  • Usage analytics or behavioral tracking data
  • Browsing history or search history
  • Financial information, bank details, or transaction data
  • Photos, contacts, or any other on-device content

The app contains no analytics SDKs, no tracking pixels, and no advertising frameworks.

3. Local Data Storage

Cambio stores your preferences locally on your device using Apple's UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party. Locally stored preferences include:

  • Your selected currencies and currency pairs
  • Favorite currencies
  • Sound and haptic feedback settings
  • Cached exchange rate data for offline use

Cambio uses Apple's App Groups to share your preferences between the main app and the home screen widget. This data sharing happens entirely on your device and is managed by iOS. No data is transmitted externally through this mechanism.

You can reset all locally stored data at any time by deleting the app from your device.

4. Third-Party Services

Cambio connects to the following third-party APIs solely to retrieve current exchange rate data. These requests contain only currency code parameters and no personal information.

These services may have their own privacy policies governing how they handle incoming requests (such as server logs containing IP addresses). We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies. However, Cambio itself does not transmit any personal data to these services.

No data is sold, shared, or transferred to third parties for advertising, marketing, or any other purpose.

5. Children's Privacy

Cambio does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because the app collects no personal data whatsoever, it is compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations worldwide.

6. Data Security

Since Cambio does not collect or store personal data on any server, there is no centralized database of user information that could be compromised. All user preferences are stored locally on your device and are protected by the security measures built into iOS.

Network requests to exchange rate APIs are made over HTTPS, ensuring that data in transit is encrypted.

7. Future Updates

Cambio may be updated in the future to include anonymous crash reporting to help improve app stability. If implemented, this feature would collect only technical crash data (such as stack traces and device model) and would contain no personally identifiable information. This privacy policy will be updated before any such change takes effect.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
